Playing Hookey, or where the Fire Chief is when he is not in town.

Hi everyone.  I am back, and Kirbyontheloose blunders on.  The rank and file in the Fire Department, as you probably know, have voted no-confidence in the Chief.   Before I left for California in December, I sent a letter to Chief Brian Duggan and the Mayor. I never heard back from them.  So, I am posting it, along with references, and some notations I have recently made to it, for your  perusal.  The references are a work in progress, and I will be adding material this week.  It bears on the question on all the outside work that the chief has been taking on over the last six years. 1. Nice Job Kirby! Between this and the damning statement from Narkewicz about how he was upset the firefighters vote was released to the public to help them understand the seriousness of the city's failure to bargain in good faith, it's clear Duggan is going to be the next former cronie of the great dictator to be held accountable!

  2. The Phoenix rises from the ashes! Welcome back Kirby! I am glad that the respite on the West Coast has revived the drive for you and just in time too.

I think (and hope) that there will be changes made here in good ol' Northampton and I am glad to see that you are back in the saddle again. You have renewed my hope in journalism!!!

  4. Very interesting Mike. It's good to know what's behind the current upheaval, which has been behind closed doors.

  5. Mike, thank you for the article. I was just reading that Ms. Stoddard found the Chief did nothing wrong. This does not surprise anyone. Ms. Stoddard has always hated the firefighters union.
